Cranberry, Highbush (Viburnum trilobum)

This moderate-growing shrub thrives in wooded, moist areas. Its uses are many, including making ink, jams, jellies and medicine. It shows well in all seasons, with white flowers in the spring, red edible fruit in the summer and yellow to red/purple fall foliage. Plus it's a great food and cover choice for wildlife, especially when planted as windbreaks. One thing to note with this species is that it can occasionally get leaf spot or powdery mildew.
