FAQ
1
How do I
place an order?
Shop our online store or request a copy of the order form and mail it to the Scott SWCD office with your payment. Orders may also be placed over the phone at (952) 492-5425. Pre-paid orders will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier you place your order, the better your chances are of receiving the quantities and species you want.
2
Can I use a paper form to place my order?
Yes. You can stop in our office to pick up an order form or call us at (952) 492-5425 to have one sent to your home. Please note that species availability is subject to change without warning, so for the most accurate list of currently available species, it is advised to place your order online or over the phone.
3
How can I pay for my order?
Payment must be submitted with each order. We accept personal checks with mailed orders and cash, check, or credit card for orders made in-person at the SWCD office. We have partnered with Paypal and accept VISA, Mastercard, Discover and American Express payment at our online store. All prices include Minnesota sales tax.

Orders will NOT be shipped to your home. Orders will be available for pick up at the Scott County Fairgrounds, located at 7151 W 190 St. Jordan, MN 55352. After making your purchase, you will receive confirmation of your order with exact day and time for pick up.

How can I prepare for pickup?
When you arrive to pick up your trees, shrubs or native plants, we will need either your name or order number to select your purchase.

Tree Sale:
Since these are only seedlings ranging from 12”– 20”, they will fit well in the backseat or trunk of any vehicle. They will be damp upon pick up, so bringing tarps, towels or even a bucket will help protect your seats.

Plant Sale:
The plants come as 1” plugs, so the trays will fit well in the backseat or trunk of any vehicle. If you have purchased a rain barrel or compost bin, they will require a little extra space but should still fit in any vehicle. The plants may be damp upon pickup so bringing tarps, towels or carboard will help protect your seats.
6
Do I need to plant right away?
For best results, seedlings and plants should be planted within 48 hours of pickup. However, if you are unable to do this, there are ways to prolong the viability of trees & plants.

Tree and Shrub Seedlings:
1-2 weeks: keep in the packaging provided and store in a dark, cool environment (a garage or basement works great). Check the roots periodically and ensure they are moist. DO NOT submerge roots in water fully.
2+ weeks: Seedlings can be “heeled” into the ground. In a shaded location, dig a V-shaped trench just large enough to accommodate the roots. Place the roots in the trench and lay the plant on the ground at an angle and loosely fill the trench back in with soil and water until lightly moistened.

Plant Plugs:
Locate an area on your property that receives partial sun and is generally protected from harsh elements such as wind, rainstorms and wildlife. Below or on a deck or covered porch are good places. Plug containers are small and can dry out quickly. Daily watering will likely be needed until planted.
